Tips and Information

  • TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN! Heed road closure signs during flooding. Vehicles can become stuck or be swept away in fast-moving flood waters and require rescue.
  • Build a disaster kit with enough supplies to last three days.
  • Follow flood evacuation instructions.  Once flood waters rise, it may be too late for first responders to rescue you because resources will be handling other cases.
  • Keep cell phones charged.
  • Keep your car gas tank full. Many motorists find themselves stranded because of traffic related to weather conditions.
  • Life threatening emergencies come first. Snohomish County first responders will be busy with multiple emergencies around the county.
  • Be prepared for all weather and be ready with a plan.
  • To provide flooding information in your area, call Snohomish County Department of Emergency Management at 425-388-5060.
