A pursuit of a suspected drunk driver ended in an accident on SR 529 at the northbound bridge crossing the Snohomish River. At around 12:30 AM on Saturday, December 1, a Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office traffic deputy was on patrol when an SUV drove by him heading northbound on Broadway Ave. in Everett from the I-5 off-ramp, allegedly going almost twice the posted speed limit. The deputy pursued the vehicle and stopped the driver at the 3800 block of Broadway. The deputy learned that the driver’s license had been suspended since 2006. During the traffic stop, the suspect drove away, continuing northbound on Broadway, driving at speeds of up to 80 MPH on SR 529 heading into Marysville. As she crossed the bridge over the Snohomish River, her SUV collided with the guardrail on the left side, causing significant damage to her vehicle.
The driver, a 37 year-old female from Everett, was arrested and taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The Sheriff’s Office has referred the four charges of attempting to elude, DUI, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
