There are two Child Interview Specialists
housed in the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office, Special
Investigations Unit (SIU), located at Dawson Place. The
interview specialists conduct forensic interviews of children
3-17 years of age for any requesting law enforcement agency.

The child interviewers at Dawson Place have
completed trainings both in a nationally recognized child
interviewing protocol and forensic interview courses sponsored
by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission.
The Sheriff's Office Child Interview
Specialists coordinate with agencies within and outside Dawson
Place on a routine basis to avoid duplicative interviewing and
to maintain communication on cases in the belief that these
actions help to better serve child victims and witnesses.
The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office,
Special Investigations Unit, has a team of detectives devoted to
investigating allegations of child neglect, physical and sexual
abuse. The unit is made up of seven detectives and a supervisor.
All detectives have specialization in the investigation of
crimes against children. They are a dedicated group of
individuals who care about the welfare of children and holding
those who harm children accountable for their actions. These
detectives work with other law enforcement agencies and the
other Dawson Place partners to provide the most comprehensive
