Writs of Restitution
(Eviction)
Service of Process
All Writs of Restitution are required by state statute to be
executed by the appropriate Sheriff's Office within the county
in which a given premises is located.
Snohomish County Writs of Restitution should be presented to the
Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Civil Unit during normal
business hours, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday
(excluding holidays).
The original Writ (signed by the Court) and a copy for each
named party residing at the address, along with appropriate fees
(cash or check only) must be presented to the Sheriff’s Office.
If a Writ is issued under an RCW statute other than 59.18, a
Bond of Indemnity to the Sheriff is also required before the
Writ can be served.
Changes Effective September 1, 2011
In order to provide better service the Civil Unit will implement
changes to the Writ of Restitution service of process beginning
September 1, 2011. The most notable changes include:
Original Writ of
Restitution from the court must contain automatic 20-day
extension language
Orders received by noon
each day will usually be posted the next business day
Service by a Civil Unit
Deputy is considered Service with Aid
No refunds will be
issued after the posting has been completed
